Exile on Mainstream is Matchbox Twenty's first compilation, released on 2 October 2007 through Atlantic. It arrived in two parts: a collection of the American rock band's biggest hits, and a set of fresh material.

The hits side gathers remastered versions of 11 of their best-known songs, a handy reminder of how much ground they covered between Yourself or Someone Like You and More Than You Think You Are. The new side is an EP of seven songs, taken from a 12-song recording session produced by Steve Lillywhite. For anyone who stopped paying attention after the early 2000s, it works as a bridge in the band's story, with the older favourites and the newer songs sitting side by side. It's a good place to start if you want the singles and a sense of where the band were heading.
