Real to Reel: Reel 2
Real to Reel: Reel 2 is the second half of Tesla's covers project, released in September 2007 on the band's own Tesla Electric Company Recordings label. It follows Reel 1, which came out the same year, and the two sit between Into the Now (2004) and Forever More (2008) in the group's catalogue.
The songs are classic rock numbers from the 1960s and 1970s that shaped the band, played in Tesla's own style and recorded on analog tape with vintage equipment. It first went on sale only to people attending the 2007 tour, and also turned up free with the August 2007 issue of the UK magazine Classic Rock before reaching shops. For fans of the band, it's a chance to hear the records behind their sound, played with a lived-in, old-school feel.
