Album
Herzeleid
Herzeleid, German for "Heartache", is the debut studio album by Rammstein, released on 25 September 1995 through Motor Music. It arrived at the start of a run of eight studio albums that would carry the band from this first record through to Zeit in 2022, with Sehnsucht following in 1997.
The record is filed under industrial metal and neue deutsche härte, the German-language blend of heavy metal and industrial that Rammstein came to define. If you know the band from their later, bigger records, this is the place to hear where that sound began, with the heaviness and mechanical edge already in place at the very start of their story.
