NOLA is the debut album from Down, an American heavy metal band. Its title is a shorthand for New Orleans, Louisiana, the city the band call home turf. It came out in September 1995 on EastWest, and it sits in the stoner and sludge corners of heavy metal.

As a starting point, it is the record that launched the band's run of studio albums, which continued with Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow… in 2002 and Down III: Over the Under in 2007. If you want to hear where Down began, before the sequels and the long gaps between them, this is the place to go.
