Suffocation

Suffocation's self-titled record is the American death metal band's fifth studio album, released on 19 September 2006 through Relapse Records. It follows Souls to Deny from 2004 and comes before Blood Oath in 2009, so it sits right in the middle of the band's later run. It is also the first Suffocation album to feature Derek Boyer on bass.

For anyone who knows the early records, there is a nice link back to the start of the band's story. "Prelude to Repulsion" is a re-recording of the track of the same name from 1993's Breeding the Spawn, so old fans get a familiar piece in a new setting. Videos were made for "Abomination Reborn" and "Bind Torture Kill", which are good places to begin if you want a quick taste of the album's brutal side.
