Pinnacle of Bedlam
Pinnacle of Bedlam is the seventh studio album by American death metal band Suffocation, released on 15 February 2013 through Nuclear Blast. It sits in the brutal and technical corners of the genre, and arrived after 2009's Blood Oath.
The line-up shift is the story here. Mike Smith, who had been behind the kit on earlier records, steps aside, apart from a guest turn on the closing track. Dave Culross returns on drums, and this remains his only full-length with the band. It is also the last album with longtime guitarist Guy Marchais. The band revisit their own past too, re-recording "Beginning of Sorrow" from Breeding the Spawn. A limited CD edition added a DVD with the 75-minute documentary The Making of Pinnacle of Bedlam.
