Souls to Deny

Souls to Deny is the fourth studio album by New York death metal band Suffocation, released on 27 April 2004 through Relapse Records. It is the first record the band made after reforming in 2003, and it follows Pierced From Within, which came out in 1995. The cover artwork is by Dan Seagrave.

The line-up tells much of the story. Guy Marchais, previously of Pyrexia and Internal Bleeding, appears on a Suffocation album for the first time, and original drummer Mike Smith returns behind the kit. With no bassist in place during recording, guitarist Terrance Hobbs and Smith shared the bass parts between them. It's a good place to hear the band's brutal, technical death metal sound as they picked up again after the reunion, and it leads straight into their self-titled album of 2006.
