Wave of Mutilation: Best of Pixies
Wave of Mutilation: Best of Pixies is a compilation from the Boston band, released on 3 May 2004 by 4AD. It draws together the key moments from their run of albums between Surfer Rosa in 1988 and Trompe le Monde in 1991, and it took over from 1997's Death to the Pixies as the label's main overview of the band.
It arrived alongside a companion DVD with a live show, promotional videos and two documentaries, which makes it a handy starting point for anyone wanting the full picture. Collectors may like to know that early pressings have a fault on "Hey", where Black Francis's opening shout is missing. The record did well too, earning a diamond certification in Europe in 2006 for 250,000 sales.
