The Art of Dying is the fourth studio album by the American thrash metal band Death Angel, released in May 2004 on Nuclear Blast. It was their first collection of new material since Act III in 1990, a gap of fourteen years, and it reached number 50 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart that year.

The title came from drummer Andy Galeon, who had watched an interview with Bruce Lee drawing on the Tibetan Book of the Dead. The idea, as guitarist Rob Cavestany relayed it, is that the way you choose to live shapes your destiny, and that living morbidly makes each day a step towards the grave. It is a thoughtful hook for a record that marks the start of the band's second chapter, one that led on to Killing Season in 2008 and a steady run of albums since.
