Death Angel are a Filipino-American thrash metal band from San Francisco, formed in 1982. They came up through the Bay Area scene of the 1980s, opening for the likes of Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus and Testament, and are often counted among the second wave of thrash. Guitarist Rob Cavestany is the one constant member, with vocalist Mark Osegueda, who joined in 1984, alongside him on every studio album.

Their first two records, The Ultra-Violence (1987) and Frolic Through the Park (1988), built an underground following and led to a deal with Geffen, for whom they made Act III in 1990. A bus accident on tour left drummer Andy Galeon injured for over a year, and the band split in 1991. They returned in 2001 and have kept going since, with Humanicide (2019) earning a Grammy nomination for its title track.
