Suicidal Tendencies
Suicidal Tendencies formed in Venice, Los Angeles, in 1980, built around vocalist Mike Muir, who remains the only original member. Their sound sits where hardcore punk meets thrash metal, and they are often named among the fathers of crossover thrash, alongside D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity and Stormtroopers of Death. Over the years they have also taken in funk and progressive influences.
Their 1983 self-titled debut brought the single "Institutionalized", one of the first hardcore punk videos to get substantial MTV airplay. Join the Army (1987) was their first album on the Billboard 200. Three Epic albums followed, with Controlled by Hatred/Feel Like Shit... Déjà Vu and Lights...Camera...Revolution! both going gold. The Art of Rebellion (1992) was their biggest chart success, peaking at number 52 and including "Asleep at the Wheel" and "I'll Hate You Better". Later albums 13 and World Gone Mad were warmly received.
