Join the Army
Join the Army is the second studio album by Suicidal Tendencies, released on 21 June 1987 on Caroline Records. It follows their 1983 self-titled debut and is one of the best-known records to blend punk with thrash metal, a crossover sound the band have been credited with helping to create.
It also marks a turning point in the line-up. Guitarist Rocky George and drummer R.J. Herrera joined for it, while bassist Louiche Mayorga made his last recording with the band, though he co-wrote songs on the next album, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today. It was the last record to find them playing straight hardcore punk before a long spell leaning towards thrash metal. It reached No. 100 on the Billboard 200, and it remains a good place to hear the two scenes collide.
