FNG
FNG is a compilation from Suicidal Tendencies, released on 29 June 1992 through Virgin. It sits in the middle of a busy stretch for the band, who had spent the late 1980s building their crossover thrash reputation with Epic Records and were by now moving into broader territory. Its release came in the same year as The Art of Rebellion, the record that gave them their biggest chart success.
For anyone coming to the band through their later, more experimental albums, it is a handy way to hear the hardcore punk and thrash roots that Mike Muir brought with him from Venice, Los Angeles, where he formed the group in 1980. It reflects a band who helped shape crossover thrash alongside D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity and Stormtroopers of Death, and who were already known for "Institutionalized", one of the first hardcore videos to get real airplay on MTV.
