Freedumb
Freedumb is the ninth studio album by Suicidal Tendencies, the American crossover band, and it came out in May 1999 on XIII Bis Records. It arrived after a hiatus, and it follows Suicidal for Life from 1994 in the band's run of records.
The songs here are rawer than the funk-tinged thrash metal the group had been moving towards before they stepped away, which pulls them closer to their hardcore punk roots. The cover art nods to the wartime photograph Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, a fitting piece of imagery for a band that has always enjoyed twisting familiar symbols. It's worth hearing for that stripped-back attitude, and for the way it shows Suicidal Tendencies regrouping after a break. Free Your Soul... and Save My Mind followed in 2000.
