Omen
Omen is the seventh studio album by Soulfly, the American heavy metal band, and it came out in May 2010 through Roadrunner Records. It was recorded in November 2009 and sits between Conquer (2008) and Enslaved (2012) in their run of records. Its sound draws on death metal, groove metal and thrash metal, and it keeps things tight, running to just over forty and a half minutes, which makes it the band's third shortest album.
For anyone following the band's story, Omen marks the end of a line-up. It is the last record to feature bassist Bobby Burns and drummer Joe Nuñez, who were replaced in mid-2011 by Tony Campos, known as the frontman of Asesino, and David Kinkade, formerly of Borknagar. It is a good one to hear if you want Soulfly's heavier, thrashier side in a compact package.
