Savages
Savages is the ninth studio album from Soulfly, the American groove metal band led by Max Cavalera. It came out on 30 September 2013 and follows Enslaved from the previous year. It was their first release for Nuclear Blast, and the first with Max's son Zyon on drums full-time, after David Kinkade left in 2012.
Terry Date produced it, having already mixed several earlier Soulfly records, including 3, Prophecy and Dark Ages. The guest list is worth a look: Clutch's Neil Fallon, Napalm Death's Mitch Harris and I Declare War's Jamie Hanks all appear, and the first single, "Bloodshed", features Max's other son, Igor. A family affair with a few friendly heavyweights on board, it's an interesting snapshot of the band in transition.
