Ritual
Ritual is the eleventh studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly, released in October 2018. It was produced by Josh Wilbur and is the third Soulfly record with Max Cavalera's son Zyon on drums. It also marks the last appearance of lead guitarist Marc Rizzo. Four singles came from it: "Evil Empowered", the title track, "Dead Behind the Eyes" and "Under Rapture".
The aim, according to Cavalera, was to keep the groove of early Soulfly alongside his taste for death metal, black metal and hardcore. He pushed for the fast songs while Wilbur nudged him towards more groove, and the result draws on a lot of his career. Guests include Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, Ross Dolan of Immolation and Mark Damon of The Pretty Reckless. It is also the first Soulfly album since Omen to carry a track from their self-titled song series on the standard edition.
