Through the Never (Music From the Motion Picture)
Through the Never is the soundtrack to Metallica's concert film of the same name, and it is made up entirely of live recordings. The performances come from five Canadian shows in August 2012: two at Rexall Place in Edmonton and three at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The one exception is "Orion", which was captured at soundcheck rather than in front of a crowd. It came out on Blackened Recordings in September 2013.
The album arrived between Lulu in 2011 and Hardwired… to Self-Destruct in 2016, so it fills a gap in the band's discography with a snapshot of them on stage. For anyone who knows the studio records from Kill 'Em All through to Death Magnetic, it is a chance to hear how that material sounds when played in big arenas, with the soundcheck "Orion" as a small curiosity.
