Slash's self-titled debut solo album arrived on 31 March 2010, and it marked a step out from behind the Guns N' Roses name that made him famous as a lead guitarist. Eric Valentine produced the record, and Sony Music put it out.

The idea is a guitarist's address book turned into a record, with a wide circle of musicians joining him across the tracks. Among them are three of his old Appetite for Destruction-era bandmates: Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler. Hearing them on the same album as Slash is a draw in itself for anyone raised on that first Guns N' Roses record. The sound sits in hard rock, with touches of heavy metal. It was the first of two solo studio albums to date, the second being Orgy of the Damned in 2024.
