The Final Frontier
The Final Frontier is Iron Maiden's fifteenth studio album, released on 13 August 2010. It arrived nearly four years after A Matter of Life and Death, one of the longest gaps in their career, and it was the last record they made for EMI, ending a relationship that had lasted thirty years. Melvyn Grant, a long-time contributor to the band's artwork, painted the cover. It also marks the final appearance of the modified version of their logo.
At 76 minutes and 34 seconds, it is a big record, and the longest of theirs that still fits on a single album. It isn't a concept piece, though exploration, expectation and discovery run through the songs. Critics responded warmly, and it reached number one in 28 countries, including the UK. In the US it got to number four. "El Dorado" won the band their first Grammy, for Best Metal Performance.
