Opus Eponymous
Opus Eponymous is the debut album from Swedish band Ghost, released on 18 October 2010 on the independent label Rise Above Records. It was recorded in the band's hometown and produced by Gene Walker. North American listeners had to wait until 18 January 2011, and Japan followed on 6 April 2011 with a bonus track: a cover of the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun".
It sits at the start of a run of studio albums that stretches through Infestissumam, Meliora, Prequelle and Impera to Skeletá. Here the band's blend of heavy metal, hard rock and doom metal is already in place, with a strong grounding in traditional heavy metal. It earned a Grammis Award nomination, a sign that this first record caught attention at home. It's the place to start if you want to hear where Ghost began.
