Ghost

Ghost are a Swedish band from Linköping, formed in 2006 and active under the name since 2008. Their sound sits where heavy metal and hard rock meet arena rock and pop, with touches of occult rock, doom, psychedelia and prog. The costumes are part of the draw: the musicians other than the singer appear as "Nameless Ghouls", while the frontman has taken on a run of characters, from the "demonic anti-pope" Papa Emeritus figures to Cardinal Copia and Papa V Perpetua. In 2017 the singer was revealed to be Tobias Forge.

Their debut, Opus Eponymous, arrived in 2010 and brought international attention. Infestissumam followed in 2013, then Meliora in 2015, which topped the Swedish chart and reached number eight in the US. Its single "Cirice" won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2016. Prequelle (2018) and Impera (2022) came next, and Skeletá in 2025 became their first US Billboard 200 number one. Start with Meliora or Prequelle.
