Rammstein

Rammstein are a six-piece from Berlin who formed in 1994 and have never changed their line-up: Till Lindemann on vocals, Richard Kruspe and Paul Landers on guitars, Oliver Riedel on bass, Christoph Schneider on drums and Christian "Flake" Lorenz on keyboards. Lindemann writes and sings the lyrics over music the rest of the band has finished first. Their debut, Herzeleid, helped the press coin the term Neue Deutsche Härte, a heavy, industrial-edged style sung in German.

Herzeleid sold slowly at first, but their live shows, with their heavy use of pyrotechnics, won the crowds. Sehnsucht, with "Engel" and "Du hast", went to No. 1 in Germany in 1997. Mutter followed in 2001, then Reise, Reise, and the 2019 untitled album, which reached No. 1 in 14 countries. Zeit arrived in 2022. They are regarded as the most successful German-language band ever.
