Fear Factory
Fear Factory are an American industrial metal band who formed in Los Angeles in 1989. Their sound fuses the brutality of death metal and groove metal with machine-like precision and a futuristic, mechanised edge. Vocalist Burton C. Bell was the one constant for 31 years until he left in 2020, while guitarist Dino Cazares is the only original member still in the current line-up.
They signed to Roadrunner Records in 1991 and released their debut, Soul of a New Machine, in 1992. The "classic" line-up of Bell, Cazares, drummer Raymond Herrera and bassist Christian Olde Wolbers recorded Demanufacture (1995) and Obsolete (1998), the two records that made their name and established them among the most acclaimed metal bands of the late 1990s. Digimortal followed in 2001. After a break-up, a hiatus and a legal dispute, the band have kept going, most recently with Aggression Continuum in 2021.
