Album
Soul of a New Machine
Soul of a New Machine is the debut studio album from American band Fear Factory, released on 25 August 1992 by Roadrunner Records. It wasn't quite the first thing they put on tape, though. The demo album Concrete was recorded in 1991, but it stayed on the shelf for eleven years before finally appearing in 2002, so this record was their second to be made and the first the public heard.
The sound blends death metal with industrial metal, with touches of grindcore in the mix. It marks the starting point for a discography that runs on through Demanufacture in 1995 and Obsolete in 1998. If you want to hear where that mechanical, heavy approach began, this is the place to start. A remastered edition arrived on 5 October 2004 in a digipak, paired with the Fear Is the Mindkiller EP.
