The Industrialist
The Industrialist is the eighth studio album by American industrial metal band Fear Factory, released in 2012. It follows Mechanize from 2010 and comes before Genexus in 2015, so it sits in the middle of the band's later run, after the long catalogue that began with Soul of a New Machine in 1992 and took in Demanufacture and Obsolete along the way.
It's worth hearing for the band's machine-driven approach to metal, and for how the record has been revisited since. In 2023 a remixed and remastered version, Re-Industrialized, appeared with live drums recorded by Mike Heller, who plays on the band's later albums. That gives listeners two takes on the same songs, and a neat way to hear how this chapter of the band's story has been reshaped.
