Tool
Tool formed in Los Angeles in 1990 and are made up of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor, who took over from founding member Paul D'Amour in 1995. They have won four Grammy Awards and have topped the album charts in several countries.
Their debut, Undertow (1993), leaned towards classic heavy metal. Ænima (1996) then moved them into the front rank of alternative and progressive metal. Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006) carried on mixing musical experimentation with visual art and a message of personal evolution, while Fear Inoculum arrived on August 30, 2019. Those four albums are the ones most listeners go to first. Their long, intricate songs and striking artwork have kept them hard to pin down.
