Ministry
Ministry are an industrial metal band formed in Chicago in 1981 by Al Jourgensen, who remains the only original member. They began as a synth-pop act before becoming one of the pioneers of industrial rock and industrial metal in the late 1980s, and their line-up has shifted constantly around him, with a long list of vocalists, guitarists and drummers passing through.
The Land of Rape and Honey (1988) and The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste (1989) both went gold, and the 1992 album known as ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ, or Psalm 69, went platinum. Filth Pig (1996) took a different stylistic turn and gave them their highest Billboard 200 placing, at number nineteen. After a hiatus, they returned in 2003 and made three albums aimed at George W. Bush, beginning with Houses of the Molé (2004). They have played Lollapalooza and Wacken Open Air, and have six Grammy nominations.
