Greatest Fits

Released19 June 2001
Popularity20.1

Greatest Fits is a compilation from the American industrial metal band Ministry, released on 19 June 2001 by Warner Bros. Records. The title is a pun on the usual "greatest hits" label, which suits a band whose records have always been abrasive and unruly.

It arrived after Dark Side of the Spoon in 1999, which was the band's most recent studio album at the time, and before Animositisomina in 2003. For anyone coming to Ministry without a stack of albums behind them, it offers a way in, drawing on a catalogue that runs from the synth-pop of With Sympathy in 1983 to the heavier, more electronic-driven sound of the albums that followed. Its mix of industrial, electronic and alternative metal gives a good sense of how far the band travelled.
