Popestar
Popestar is the second EP from the Swedish band Ghost, released on 16 September 2016 through Loma Vista Recordings. Tom Dalgety produced it, and most of the running time is given over to cover versions rather than new songs.
It arrived between the albums Meliora (2015) and Prequelle (2018), so it works as a stopgap in the band's story, a chance to hear how they reshape other people's material in their own theatrical, traditional heavy metal style. The band took to North America on the Popestar Tour once it was out, which makes the EP something of a companion to that run of dates. It's a short, curious detour for anyone who already knows the albums and wants to hear Ghost in a different light.
