Marrow Deep
Marrow Deep is the ninth studio album by Mastodon, released on 28 August 2026 through Loma Vista Recordings, their first record for the label. It follows Hushed and Grim from 2021 and arrives at a point of real change for the Atlanta-born band: it is their first album with guitarist Nick Johnston, and the first with keyboardist João Nogueira as an official member, making Mastodon a five-piece for the first time.
The songs were written and recorded in 2025, shaped by the deaths of Brann Dailor's mother and of founding lead guitarist Brent Hinds. Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou produced. "Your Ghost Again" led the way in June, followed by "Snakes for Dinner" in July, which features Josh Homme. The Poisonous Weapons tour supported the album, with Deafheaven and Alcest opening every date. It is worth hearing as the band's response to loss and a new line-up.
