Lifesblood
Lifesblood is the second EP from American sludge metal band Mastodon, released in August 2001 on Relapse Records. It arrived on CD first, with a US release date of 18 September 2001, and was pressed to vinyl in 2004. The title comes from a lyric in "Trampled Under Hoof", a song that later appeared on their debut album, Remission.
It sits at the very start of the band's story, ahead of the run of full-length records that began with Remission in 2002 and Leviathan in 2004. Its limited pressing has made it a prized find for fans. The vinyl came in several colours: 100 clear, 500 red, 500 black, and a second press of 500 blue and black. For anyone tracing Mastodon back to their roots, it is a worthwhile detour.
