Live at the Aragon
Live at the Aragon is a concert release from Mastodon, issued as a CD and DVD on Reprise Records in March 2011. It was filmed on 17 October 2009 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, during the world tour for their fourth album, Crack the Skye. The band played that record in its entirety, and added songs from Remission, Leviathan and Blood Mountain, their first three albums.
It sits between Crack the Skye and The Hunter in the band's story, so it works as a snapshot of Mastodon at the end of that tour. The DVD also includes the Crack the Skye film, which presents the album in video form from start to finish. To promote the release, the band put live versions of "Oblivion", "Ghost of Karelia" and "Crack the Skye" on YouTube, which makes a handy way in before you commit to the whole show.
