Album
Ascendancy
Ascendancy is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Trivium, released in March 2005 through Roadrunner Records. It followed their 2003 debut, Ember to Inferno, and was produced by Jason Suecof together with frontman Matt Heafy, which kept the record close to the band's own vision.
Sitting somewhere between heavy metal, melodic metalcore and alternative metal, it is the record where Trivium's sound came into focus. It is also the first step on a path that led to The Crusade in 2006 and Shogun in 2008, so it makes a good place to start if you want to understand how the band grew into one of the major metal names of their generation.
