Don’t Believe the Truth
Don't Believe the Truth is the sixth studio album by Oasis, released on 30 May 2005 through Big Brother Recordings. It came after a few years of mixed fortunes, and it was the first record where the writing and playing were shared out across the whole band. Noel Gallagher remained the main songwriter, but Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell all contributed, and the three of them swapped between guitar and bass on different tracks. Zak Starkey, who joined as an auxiliary member after Alan White left, drums on it for the first time.
That shared load gave the songs a different feel from a typical Noel-led Oasis album, and it is Noel's favourite of their last four. Critics were warm, with many calling it their best in a decade. It went to number one in the UK, selling 237,865 in its first week, and later went triple platinum there. A huge world tour followed.
