Dig Out Your Soul
Dig Out Your Soul is the seventh studio album by Oasis, released on 6 October 2008 through Big Brother. The band recorded it at Abbey Road Studios in London between August and December 2007, then mixed it in Los Angeles at The Village Recorder. Dave Sardy, who had produced much of Don't Believe the Truth, returned behind the desk. Noel Gallagher wrote most of the songs, with Liam Gallagher contributing three and Gem Archer and Andy Bell one apiece.
It leans towards a harder rock sound with a psychedelic edge, which won it positive reviews and commercial success. "The Shock of the Lightning" led the three singles. The tour that followed ran for eighteen months, until a backstage row at Rock en Seine near Paris in August 2009 ended it and prompted Noel to leave the band. That makes this the final Oasis studio album, a heavier last chapter well worth revisiting.
