Live at Shea Stadium
Live at Shea Stadium captures the Clash on 13 October 1982 in New York City, the second night of their run opening for the Who. Kosmo Vinyl produced the recording, and it came out on Sony BMG on 6 October 2008. The tapes turned up when Joe Strummer was packing for a move.
It finds the band in a changed state. Terry Chimes plays drums in place of Topper Headon, who had been fired earlier that year for heroin abuse. That puts the show after Combat Rock and before Cut the Crap, the last record of the original run. For anyone who knows the studio albums from London Calling onwards, it offers a rare chance to hear that period played in front of a huge stadium crowd.
