Album
Sonic Boom
Sonic Boom is the nineteenth studio album by KISS, released on 6 October 2009 on KISS Records. It arrived eleven years after Psycho Circus, the longest gap in the band's studio run up to that point. Paul Stanley produced it, with Greg Collins co-producing, and the band recorded it at Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The record is the first to feature Tommy Thayer on lead guitar as an official member, having previously guested on Hot in the Shade in 1989. Drummer Eric Singer is back too, following his return to the band in 2004, and both he and Thayer take lead vocals on the album. Stanley made the intent plain: he wanted to show that KISS could still knock out anybody out there, not simply that they were still around. It is a hard rock record with something to prove, and it makes a good companion to the band's later work, Monster.
