Alive!
Alive! was KISS's first live album, a double release put out by Casablanca Records on 10 September 1975. It gathers live versions of songs from their first three studio records, KISS, Hotter Than Hell and Dressed to Kill, and was assembled from concerts in Detroit, Cleveland, Wildwood in New Jersey, and Davenport in Iowa, played between May and July 1975. The title nods to Slade Alive!, a 1972 live record by the English band Slade, who were a strong influence on KISS.
It arrived at a pivotal moment, and it is regarded as the album that broke the band through. It is also seen as a landmark among live albums. For anyone who wants to hear the early KISS songbook the way the band played it on stage, with hard rock, glam and pop instincts all in the mix, this is the place to start.
