KISS Gold
KISS Gold is a compilation from the American rock band, put out by Mercury Records in 2004. It gathers material from a career that began in New York City in 1973, when Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss formed the line-up most people picture when they think of the band: face paint, theatrical stage shows and a hard rock sound built for big rooms.
As a way in, a collection like this suits anyone who wants the story without committing to twenty studio albums. The band's path is an uneven one, from slow-burning early records to the breakthrough of Alive!, the hit ballad "Beth", the global success of "I Was Made for Lovin' You" and the later years without makeup. Gold lets you hear how those chapters sit side by side.
