20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best of KISS, Volume 2

Released15 June 2004
Popularity54.0

This 2004 compilation gathers Kiss's 1980s work on a single disc, and it was the first collection to focus only on that decade. It is the second of three Millennium Collection volumes devoted to the band, released by Mercury Records on 15 June 2004. The selection runs from late 1982 to 1989, so it leaves out Unmasked from 1980 and Music From "The Elder" from 1981.

For anyone curious about Kiss after the face-paint years, it's a handy way in. The period it covers takes in the run from Creatures of the Night through to Hot in the Shade, a stretch when the band's hard rock sound moved with the times. In 2008 this volume was repackaged with the first and third instalments as the set Playlist...Plus.
