Crazy Nights
Crazy Nights is the fourteenth studio album by American rock band Kiss, released on 18 September 1987 through Mercury Records. It was recorded between March and June that year and was the second record to feature the line-up of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr. It sits between Asylum and Hot in the Shade in the band's catalogue.
What stands out is the sound. This is Kiss in pop-metal mode, with keyboards and synthesisers up front, echoing the way commercial rock was heading at the time. The title track, "Crazy Crazy Nights", is the one song that stayed in the live set for the following tour, and it returned again for the Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour nearly twenty years later. Most of the rest were played on the supporting tour and then dropped, which makes this a record worth hearing for its glossy, of-its-moment take on the band.
