Album
Among the Living
Among the Living is the third studio album by Anthrax, the American thrash metal band, and it came out on 22 March 1987. Megaforce Records handled the US release, with Island Records putting it out elsewhere. It follows Spreading the Disease and is dedicated to Metallica's Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident six months earlier while Metallica were on tour with Anthrax as their support act.
Veteran engineer Eddie Kramer, working with a thrash band for the first time, co-produced it. Recording went smoothly, though the band and Kramer disagreed over how the finished record should sound during mixing. The members themselves regard it as their breakthrough, the album that took them from small clubs to arenas and stadiums. Critics rated it highly, it helped place Anthrax among thrash's "Big Four", and it was certified gold by the RIAA on 31 July 1990, their second gold record.
