Stomp 442
Stomp 442 is Anthrax's seventh studio album, released on 24 October 1995 through Elektra. It followed Sound of White Noise and leans into a heavier, groove-driven side of the band's metal sound. The band produced it themselves alongside the Philadelphia-based Butcher Brothers, and it spawned the singles "Fueled" and "Nothing". It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 47.
It marks a turning point in the Anthrax story. This is the first record without lead guitarist Dan Spitz, with Paul Crook handling lead guitar duties despite not being credited as a band member. It is also their final album for Elektra, whom the band left after feeling the label had not done enough to promote it. For fans tracing the group's mid-90s years, it is the record that closes one chapter.
