Inked in Blood

Inked in Blood is the ninth studio album by American death metal band Obituary, released on 24 October 2014 through Gibtown Records. The record was funded by fans through Kickstarter, and a deluxe edition added two bonus tracks. It followed Darkest Day from 2009 and came before the band's self-titled album of 2017.

It marks a change in the line-up, with bassist Terry Butler and lead guitarist Kenny Andrews appearing on an Obituary studio album for the first time. That also made it the first record since Slowly We Rot, their 1989 debut, to go without Frank Watkins on bass. Commercially it broke new ground too: it became the band's first album to reach the Billboard 200, peaking at number 75 after selling 5,200 copies in its opening week. For anyone tracing how Obituary carried on into the late 2010s, it's a natural place to start.
