Xecutioner’s Return

Xecutioner's Return is the seventh studio album by American death metal band Obituary, released on 27 August 2007. The title looks back to the name the band first played under, Xecutioner. It followed Frozen in Time, their 2005 comeback record, and came before Darkest Day in 2009.

It is the first Obituary album since Cause of Death in 1990 made without guitarist Allen West, and it introduces Ralph Santolla on guitar. Many heard it as a partial return to the faster, speed-driven approach of their early work. Critics responded warmly, though the fanbase was more divided. That split makes it an interesting one to weigh up for yourself, especially if you want to hear how the band sounded in a changed line-up. There is also a video for "Evil Ways" if you want a quick way in.
