Anthology
Anthology is a compilation from the American death metal band Obituary, released on 23 January 2001 by Roadrunner Records. It gathers songs from the first stretch of their career, running from 1989's Slowly We Rot through to 1997's Back From the Dead, so it covers the records that built the band's name before a long gap in their studio output.
The collection also includes two tracks that had never been released before. They were recorded in 1998, shortly before the band split up, which makes them a small footnote in the group's story. For anyone coming to Obituary fresh, or wanting the early years in one place, it offers a handy route through their first era, with those two rarities as an incentive for existing fans.
