Smash the State E.P.
Smash the State E.P. is a short release from Melvins, put out by Amphetamine Reptile Records on 24 August 2007. It arrived in the middle of a long and restless run for the band, who had been making albums since Gluey Porch Treatments in 1987 and showed no sign of slowing down.
It sits between (A) Senile Animal from 2006 and Nude With Boots from 2008, which places it in a busy stretch for the group. For anyone following the Melvins' story record by record, it is a small but useful marker of where they were in the late 2000s, and a good excuse to dig into a catalogue that rewards the curious.
