The Bride Screamed Murder
The Bride Screamed Murder is the seventeenth studio album by Melvins, released on 1 June 2010 through Ipecac Recordings. It sits in the middle of a long career, between Nude With Boots in 2008 and Freak Puke in 2012. The title nods to a fictional book from the film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. The sound draws on sludge metal, hard rock, grunge and alternative rock.
It was the first Melvins record to reach the Billboard 200, entering at number 200 after selling 2,809 copies in its first few weeks. In October 2010 the band put out a video for "Electric Flower", directed by Mark Brooks and made with Scion Audio/Visual. Exclaim! ranked the album number eight among the year's metal releases, which makes it a good stop for anyone tracing the band's later work.
