Stoner Witch
Stoner Witch is the seventh studio album by the American band Melvins, released in October 1994 on Atlantic Records. It was their second record for the label, and it arrived in the same year as Prick, which sits just before it in their long discography.
The band sits somewhere between grunge and sludge metal, and this record shows both sides of that description. For anyone coming to the Melvins from the Seattle-era rock of the early 1990s, it is a good place to see how heavy and strange the same scene could get. It also marks a moment when a band with a deeply odd sound was working with a major label, ahead of Stag in 1996 and a catalogue that has kept growing for decades.
